- Update your personal information.
By using the MEMBERS LOGIN you can renew your membership, get personalised information about our groups, a personalised calendar of our meetings, see what information we hold about you and change it if its wrong or has changed and you can also email yourself a replacement membership card. You will need to create a Membership Account first. If you're unsure how to do this you may find our guide How to create a Membership Account useful.
Our Beacon 'Power Users' (Group Leaders, The Groups Coordinator, Social Committee Members, Committee Members, The Membership Secretary, The Treasurer, The Newsletter Editors and The Beacon System Administrator.) can use the u3a Beacon Login to help them with their roles. Beacon training will be given to any member who takes on one of these roles.
The quickest and easiest way to renew your membership for is via the MEMBERS LOGIN using a debit/credit card or PayPal account. This can be done from six weeks before the end of the year up to six weeks into the new year, the price will be the same and your membership type will be kept the same. If you want to change to a different type of membership then this will need to be done by a Committee Member prior to to your renewal. The different types of membership and their prices are as follows:
- Our 'Individual' Membership to the end of 2026 is now only £16.00.
- If you are already a member of another UK u3a then you can become an 'Associate' member of our u3a for just £13.00. Please note that this is only available if you renew online and is subject the other u3a confirming that you are a 'Full' member of their u3a.
- There is also an optional national magazine, called 'u3a matters', that you can receive in the post five times a year. To receive this you can become an 'Individual with TAM' member for just £20.00, which covers your membership until the end of 2026, the magazine and its postage. You can find out more information about the 'u3a matters' magazine using this link, which may help you to decide if you'd like to receive it or not.
Please tick the GIFT AID option if you are a UK tax payer as you will still only pay the membership price, but as we are a registered charity (1180160), we will be able to claim an additional 25% of that price back from HMRC (The income tax that you've already paid).
To renew by post you'll need to download the Existing Members Renewal Form, print it out, fill it in and post it to our Membership Secretary along with your cheque and a stamped self-addressed envelope (so that we can post your membership card back to you.). This is at least £1.74 more than renewing your membership on line.
Thinking of starting a new group?
We have over 650 members and are recruiting more all the time. We are sure we have many members with interests that could be shared.
How your group is run is up to you, when you run a group you decide:
• You do not need to have experience of hosting an interest group or even of the subject, everybody can learn together.
• You decide how often to meet and where:- at home, pub, meeting room, library, sports centre, outdoors, river, garden, track, course, stately home.
• Going on holiday, hospital or other commitment - appoint a deputy or ask other group members to run the meeting when you are away.
Please let me know if you are interested in starting a new group. We can have a discussion without commitment and we will give you support to start a group and help you to gain new members. This includes Beacon training to help you run your group more easily.
